Ο κ. Γιονούς Μοχαμαντί (Yonous Muhammadi), Αφγανός στην καταγωγή, ήρθε στην Ελλάδα το 2001 αφού αποφυλακίστηκε από το Αφγανιστάν. Το 2004 έγινε ένας από τους 11 πρόσφυγες που πήραν άσυλο ανάμεσα σε 4.000 αιτούντες και έκτοτε ζει νόμιμα στην Αθήνα. Ιδρυτής αρχικά της Αφγανικής Κοινότητας και κατόπιν Πρόεδρος του Ελληνικού Φόρουμ Προσφύγων, στο οποίο σύμφωνα με το καταστατικό του (πηγή) ιδρυτικό μέλος είναι εκτός των άλλων και ο δημοσιογράφος κ. Λάζαρος Πετρομελίδης, ο οποίος έχει διατελέσει και πρόεδρος του Συνδέσμου Αντιρρησιών Συνείδησης, ενώ «… έχει παραστεί σε δεκάδες πρωτοβάθμια και αναθεωρητικά δικαστήρια, έχει καταδικαστεί και έχει εκτίσει ποινή φυλάκισης» λόγω της άρνησής του να εκτίσει την στρατιωτική του θητεία. Μάρτυρας υπεράσπισης του κ. Πετρομελίδη υπήρξε στις 4 Μαΐου 2006 ο τότε κοινοβουλευτικός εκπρόσωπος του ΣΥΡΙΖΑ Φώτης Κουβέλης. Στην ίδια δίκη, μάρτυρας του κ. Πετρομελίδη ήταν και ο ευρωβουλευτής του ΣΥΡΙΖΑ Δημήτρης Παπαδημούλης. Σημειώνεται ότι ο κ. Παπαδημούλης είναι συνυποψήφιος του κ. Γιονούς Μοχαμαντί στο νέο ευρωψηφοδέλτιο του ΣΥΡΙΖΑ.
