Around 900 refugees stormed a border fence in an attempt to reach Spain’s North African enclave of Ceuta on Thursday night.
At least 400 refugees are thought to have successfully crossed the border from Morocco at Tarajal beach, although Ceuta’s civil guard estimate that as many as 500 managed to jump the fence. Several of the refugees sustained injuries in the process.
There is a large permanent presence of refugees on the border of the two Spanish enclaves in North Africa; Ceuta and Melilla.
